Qwetu DT SACCO launched its 2026 Education to Members series on Saturday, 5th September, with a strong turnout across Voi Sub-County and encouraging feedback from members who said the sessions had deepened their understanding of their SACCO.
The opening programme reached members in Voi town and surrounding communities, including Mbololo, Wongonyi, Mwambirwa (Rong’e Juu) and Sagala. Meeting points included AIC Church for Voi One, Dan Mwazo Social Hall for Voi Two, Wongonyi Primary School and Ndile Social Hall in Rong’e Juu. In Mbololo, members gathered at Ndile Primary School.
Members expressed appreciation for the sessions, with some saying they had not fully understood what a SACCO was until they attended. Their response highlighted a need that can easily be overlooked: belonging to a SACCO does not necessarily mean understanding how it works or how to make the most of its services.
Taking the programme to rural communities, including Mbololo and Sagala, put Qwetu’s commitment to accessible financial education into practice. Members were able to attend sessions within their communities, bringing the discussion closer to those who might otherwise have to travel to town for such opportunities.
The large attendance gave the series a promising start. More significantly, members’ feedback showed the value of creating time for explanations and conversations about the institution to which they entrust their savings and turn for credit.
From Voi’s town venues to its rural meeting points, the opening sessions set the direction for the weeks ahead. As the series continues, Qwetu will keep reaching members wherever they are, helping them understand their SACCO and make informed financial decisions.
